In 2001, while in the University, myself and some other students conducted research on the history of Valentine's day, in a bid to understand why the day was celebrated. Our findings were intriguing and revealing. Amongst many other things, we discovered 1 John 4:19-21. God loved us first before we even knew what love meant, and the only way we can reciprocate that love is by loving our fellow man. That is what Saint Valentine exemplified, and I believe that is what this day reminds us. Resolve to show people the love you claim to show God. If you love God, you will love people.
