"Sir my friend brought up this question on our bible study group and it got me confused
Sir his question had me wondering if the breathe of life is the soul of man or the soul of man is the breath of life plus the dust (body) or is the soul another thing all together." When I listened to the voice notes, I discovered that his friend had issues with man been refered to as a spirit. In his words, he does not believe that man is a Spirit.
In his words, "man is just a mortal being" Here is a my response.
God (a Spirit) said let us create man after our image (spirit appearance) and likeness (spirit character, attitudes, behaviours) and this gives them dominion nature.
In Genesis 2:7, he went to the earth and made from the earth, a body. He breath into this body, the breath of life or the spirit man, and this body became a living soul.

John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
If a man is born of the Spirit, then he is spirit.
To becomes a son of God is to be born a spirit.....

Spiritual understanding is key to interpreting scriptures....and not just what you think....
You need precepts (inspiration or divine ideas) before concepts (what you think)
May we receive spiritual understanding to capture and retain the truth.
