UNCAGED: The Nature of Vision

📖 “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” – Proverbs 29:18

🔑 What is Vision?

  • Vision is not what you see when you sleep, but what keeps you awake.

  • Vision is locating something worth dying for (John 12:24).

  • Many have sight but lack vision. (Helen Keller)

  • Sight sees things as they are, vision sees things as they could be.

  • Sight says, “This is the economy.” Vision say,s “I will create a new economy.”

  • Vision is the force that pulls you out of cages.

4 Cages that Kill Vision

  1. The Cage of Fear

    • Fear cripples (2 Timothy 1:7).

    • What you fear is actually afraid of you (Joshua 1:9).

    • The antidote to fear is action.

    • Over 365 “Fear nots” in Scripture – one for each day.

    • Books: “Do it Scared” / “Chase the Lion.”

  2. The Cage of Culture

    • Culture can program mediocrity (Romans 12:2).

    • Success and failure are both scripted.

    • Learn how to market yourself (Book: “Brag”).

    • Don’t let culture size your mindset.

  3. The Cage of Comfort

    • Comfort is the enemy of growth (Amos 6:1 – “Woe to them that are at ease in Zion”).

    • Be willing to disrupt yourself before the world disrupts you.

  4. The Cage of Comparison

    • 2 Corinthians 10:12 – They that compare themselves with others are not wise.

    • Stop comparing journeys; you may be age mates or school mates, but not access mates.

    • Nurture your own grass.

    • SWOT yourself – Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats.

    • If they don’t invite you to the table, create your own table.

Other Cages that Trap Vision

  • What you love without discipline can cage you (1 Corinthians 9:27).

How to Uncage Your Vision

  1. Expand Your Vision

    • Big dreams attract big people.

    • If your dream is small, you don’t need God. (Ephesians 3:20)

    • Current success can be the enemy of next success.

  2. Protect Your Vision

    • Don’t share too soon (Genesis 37 – Joseph).

    • Every vision has enemies, distractions, and killers.

    • Let your vision take root before exposure.

  3. Execute Your Vision

    • Just do it. Do it scared.

    • No latecomer in success—when you wake up is your morning.

    • Break big goals into phases.

  4. Sustain Your Vision

    • Your plan after winning is your real plan.

    • The enemy of your next success is your current success.

Skills of the Uncaged

  1. Self-Awareness

    • You can’t break free from what you don’t know exists.

    • Awareness reveals your patterns.

    • Don’t borrow without a repayment mechanism (Proverbs 22:7).

  2. Courage

    • Courage is moving forward despite fear (Joshua 1:6–7).

    • Fortune favors the bold.

  3. Focus & Discipline

    • Discipline sustains you when excitement fades (1 Corinthians 9:24–27).

  4. Adaptability

    • Only the dead don’t change.

    • Ecclesiastes 7:13 – Consider the works of God, for who can straighten what He has made crooked?

    • One way is rarely the only way.

  5. Resilience

    • The righteous falls seven times but rises again (Proverbs 24:16).

    • Anticipate setbacks, but plan to bounce back.

Call to Action

  • Vision is not all about you; it impacts others (Habakkuk 2:2–3).

  • Live an uncaged life: attract people, money, and resources through projects.

  • Don’t limit yourself to one description—develop multiple streams (Ecclesiastes 11:2).
