DAY 19: THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

DAY 19: THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

Scripture Reading

Old Testament: Malachi 3:10-12 (KJV)

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed."

New Testament: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (KJV)

"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."

Wordspiration Bible Study

Generosity is a mark of the Spirit-filled life. The Holy Spirit produces a giving heart—not out of obligation, but out of love and gratitude. God loves a cheerful giver.

Malachi challenges us to bring tithes and offerings and to "prove" God—to test His faithfulness in blessing. When we give, God opens the windows of heaven and pours out blessing. He rebukes the devourer and protects what we have. And the result is that all nations call us blessed.

Paul teaches that giving is a seed sown. The more we sow bountifully, the more we reap. But giving must be from the heart—not grudgingly or under compulsion, but cheerfully. God is able to make all grace abound to us so that we can abound to every good work.

As distinguished and impactful lights, we are called to be generous. Our giving distinguishes us from a world that hoards and grabs. Our generosity demonstrates God's grace and love. We are to give of our time, our resources, our talents, and our love.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of generosity. He fills us with a giving heart. He prompts us to give, guides us in what to give, and multiplies what we give. Let us be cheerful givers, shining our light through generosity.

Prophetic Declaration

I am a cheerful giver! I give bountifully, and I reap bountifully. God loves a cheerful giver, and He makes all grace abound toward me. I am generous with my time, my resources, and my love. My giving opens the windows of heaven and brings blessing to my life and to others!

Personal Supplication

Father, I thank You for Your generosity to me. Help me to be a cheerful giver. Purge me from greed and selfishness. Let me give as You lead me. Multiply what I give and use it for Your kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prophetic Word for the Day

"The Lord says: I love a cheerful giver. When you give, you are sowing seeds that will produce a harvest. I will open the windows of heaven over you. You will not be able to contain all the blessings. Give, and it will be given to you—good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over."
