TREAT PEOPLE WITH DIGNITY

Let me ask you something.

How do you treat people who cannot do anything for you?

The cleaner.

The security guard.

The waiter.

The junior colleague.

The student who isn't popular.

The person who doesn't have money.

The person who can't give you connections, followers, or opportunities.

Because here's the truth:

The way you treat people who cannot benefit you says a lot about who you really are.

Welcome to Wordspiration—one word, one thought, one decision that could change your day.

And today's word is:

DIGNITY.

Treat people with dignity.

EVERYONE HAS VALUE

Gen Z, we're living in a world where people are often valued by what they have.

Followers.

Money.

Beauty.

Degrees.

Connections.

Designer clothes.

Job titles.

But God's standard is different.

Every human being has value because they are created by God.

Genesis 1:27 says:

“So God created mankind in his own image.”

That means the person you look down on is still made in God's image.

The person who serves you is still made in God's image.

The person who disagrees with you is still made in God's image.

And yes—

even the person you don't like deserves dignity.

You don't have to agree with everybody.

But you can respect everybody.

DON'T USE PEOPLE

Here's another one.

Don't treat people well only when you need something from them.

Don't suddenly become nice because somebody has money.

Don't respect someone because they have a big title.

Don't pretend to care because you want a connection.

And don't disrespect someone simply because you think they're beneath you.

Jesus gave us a powerful standard in Matthew 7:12:

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”

That's the Golden Rule.

Before you send that insulting message—

Ask yourself: Would I want someone to speak to me like this?

Before you embarrass someone publicly—

Would I want that done to me?

Before you laugh at someone's weakness—

Would I want people laughing at mine?

Before you post someone's private business online—

Would I want mine posted?

Think before you act.

DIGNITY IN THE DIGITAL WORLD

Because sometimes people forget there's a real human being behind the screen.

You see somebody's picture and insult them.

You disagree with someone's opinion and attack their character.

Someone makes a mistake and suddenly everybody becomes a judge.

Someone's relationship ends and people turn it into entertainment.

Clicks are not more important than people's dignity.

Proverbs 15:1 says:

“A gentle answer turns away wrath.”

You can disagree without destroying someone.

You can correct without humiliating.

You can speak truth without being cruel.

Being savage isn't the same thing as being strong.

Sometimes real strength is knowing when to say:

“I'm not going to tear this person down.”

HOW DO YOU TREAT PEOPLE?

So here's a little test.

Watch how you treat people when you're:

Angry.

Tired.

Successful.

Powerful.

Disappointed.

Because anybody can be nice when everything is going their way.

Character shows up when you have the power to disrespect someone—

but choose not to.

Jesus demonstrated this kind of compassion repeatedly.

He noticed people others ignored.

He spoke to people others rejected.

He touched lives others had written off.

And if we're going to follow Christ, we can't just carry His name.

We must carry His character.

Today, deliberately treat someone with dignity.

Maybe it's somebody you normally ignore.

Give them your attention.

Say thank you.

Listen.

Show respect.

Encourage somebody.

And if you've treated someone badly, have the courage to make it right.

Don't wait until they're successful before you respect them.

Respect them now.

Because their worth was never determined by what they could give you.

People are not stepping stones.

They're not followers.

They're not connections.

They're not opportunities.

They're people.

And every person deserves dignity.

So don't measure people by their bank account.

Don't measure them by their clothes.

Don't measure them by their followers.

See the person.

Respect the person.

Value the person.

Because one day, you may discover that the person you looked down on was carrying something you desperately needed.

And even if they never give you anything—

treat them with dignity anyway.

That's character.

That's humanity.

And that's Christ-like living.
