In a generation that celebrates speed, convenience, and instant gratification, there is a dangerous mindset quietly shaping expectations—even in spiritual matters. Many people want results now, influence now, impact now.
But there is a reality that must be understood:
Power is not served à la carte.
You don’t pick it off a menu. You don’t select it based on preference. And you certainly don’t access it without cost.
The Misconception About Power
There is a growing desire for the display of power without an appreciation for the process that produces it.
People want:
Authority without submission
Impact without preparation
Results without discipline
Visibility without consecration
But true power does not respond to convenience—it responds to depth.
Power Has a Process
Power is not accidental. It is cultivated.
It is formed in places most people avoid:
The secret place of prayer
The discipline of obedience
The refinement of character
The consistency of devotion
Before power is revealed publicly, it is first developed privately.
Luke 24:49 – “Tarry… until you are endued with power from on high.”
Acts 1:8 – “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”
Even Jesus, though full of divine purpose, did not bypass process. There was waiting. There was preparation. There was alignment.
The Weight of Power
Power is not just something you carry—it is something that can also carry you… or crush you if you are not prepared.
That is why it is not given cheaply.
God entrusts power to those who:
Can sustain it
Can steward it
Can remain humble under it
Can use it for service, not self
Because in the Kingdom, power is not for performance—it is for purpose.
The Secret Place: Where Power Is Formed
If there is one place where power is consistently forged, it is the secret place.
Not the stage.
Not the spotlight.
Not the applause.
But the hidden place of:
Prayer
Fellowship with God
Surrender
Alignment
James 5:16 – “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
What people celebrate publicly is often the result of what was built privately.
Why Many Miss It
Many people desire power, but few are willing to:
Wait
Be stretched
Be corrected
Be refined
So they settle for appearances instead of substance.
But you cannot fake power. Eventually, reality exposes depth.
A Call to Depth
If you truly desire power, then embrace the process.
Don’t rush what must be built.
Don’t skip what must be formed.
Don’t avoid what must shape you.
Because power is not given to those who want it—
it is entrusted to those who are ready for it.
Final Charge
Power is not served à la carte.
It is cultivated in consecration, sustained by obedience, and released through yielded vessels.
If you want to walk in power:
Go deeper
Stay consistent
Build capacity
Remain yielded
The secret place is where power is formed… before it is revealed.
🔥 Wordspired Reflection
What areas of your life are you trying to shortcut instead of build?
🙏 Prayer
Lord, build in me the capacity to carry what You have prepared for me. Help me embrace the process, remain disciplined, and stay yielded to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
