Your Legacy Is Being Written Today

When people hear the word legacy, they often think about possessions, businesses, achievements, titles, buildings, or money left behind. But God's idea of legacy reaches much deeper.

Legacy is what remains of your values in the lives of people after they have encountered you.

It is the truth you taught, the character you demonstrated, the courage you modeled, the people you lifted, the standards you refused to compromise, and the faith you transferred to another generation.

Your legacy is not merely what people say about you after you are gone.

Your legacy is what people become because you lived.

Psalm 78:4 reveals a powerful responsibility: “We will not hide them from their children.” The generation before us has a responsibility to deliberately transfer the knowledge of God, His works, His values, and His faithfulness to the generation coming behind.

Instead of complaining about how the Genzers have turned out, we should reflect more on what we as parents have done to make them turn out this way. 

This means we must stop thinking of legacy as something reserved for old age.

Legacy is being built right now.

Every conversation matters.
Every decision matters.
Every private compromise matters.
Every act of honesty matters.
Every demonstration of integrity matters.
Every person you choose to honor matters.

Honor Is Part of Your Legacy

One of the deepest principles of a life of integrity is understanding the power of honor.

Honor begins with recognizing the value God has placed in people, relationships, responsibilities, promises, and truth.

A person who understands honor does not ask only:

“What can I get away with?”

They ask:

“What is right?”

They do not merely ask:

“Will anyone know?”

They ask:

“Can I stand before God with a clear heart?”

That is where integrity becomes more than reputation.

Reputation is what people think you are. Integrity is who you are when nobody is watching.

A person may protect an impressive public image while privately violating the very values they publicly proclaim. But God is interested in the person behind the platform, behind the title, behind the achievement, and behind the applause.

Your greatest legacy will not be your ability to impress people.

It will be your consistency of character.

Honesty Builds What Money Cannot Buy

Honesty is not merely refusing to tell a lie. It is developing a life that does not need deception to survive.

There are moments when telling the truth may cost you.

Integrity may cost you an opportunity.
Honesty may cost you money.
Doing what is right may cost you popularity.
Keeping your word may require sacrifice.

But what you preserve through obedience is far more valuable than what you gain through compromise.

A generation does not only need successful people.

It needs trustworthy people.

Children need to see adults whose private lives agree with their public declarations.

Employees need leaders whose word can be trusted.

Communities need citizens who will do what is right even when there is no immediate reward.

The Church needs believers whose conduct gives credibility to their confession.

And nations need leaders who understand that authority without integrity eventually becomes destructive.

Your Children Are Watching More Than They Are Listening

Psalm 78 is a call to generational responsibility.

The next generation will learn from our sermons, but they will learn even more from our lives.

They will remember how we treated people.

They will remember whether we kept our promises.

They will remember how we behaved when we were under pressure.

They will remember whether we apologized when we were wrong.

They will remember whether we chose truth when lying would have been easier.

They will remember whether our faith was real outside the walls of church.

The life you live becomes a lesson someone else will inherit.

Therefore, don't merely tell the next generation to walk in integrity.

Let them see you walking in it.

Don't only teach them to honor God.

Let them see God honored in your decisions.

Don't merely tell them that truth matters.

Let them see you choose truth when truth is inconvenient.

What Will Remain When Your Name Is No Longer in the Room?

Matthew 5:16 gives us the purpose of visible good works: “that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Notice the destination of the light.

The glory goes to God.

This is important because legacy can become dangerous when it becomes self-glorification.

We should not live merely to build a name.

We should live to make God's name known.

The goal is not:

“May they remember how great I was.”

The greater prayer is:

“May they remember the God I served, the truth I stood for, the people I helped, and the values I refused to compromise.”

A godly legacy points beyond the person who carries it.

Your Legacy Is in the Small Things

Legacy is rarely constructed through one spectacular moment.

It is built through ordinary decisions repeated over time.

It is choosing honesty when dishonesty appears profitable.

It is honoring your commitments.

It is treating the person who cannot benefit you with the same respect as the person who can.

It is refusing to use people merely because they are useful.

It is speaking truth without destroying people.

It is correcting your mistakes instead of defending your pride.

It is refusing to compromise your convictions simply because everyone else has compromised theirs.

It is doing the right thing when nobody will applaud.

Great legacies are often built in places where nobody is watching.

Take a moment today and ask yourself:

1. What values am I transferring to the people around me?

2. If my children imitate my lifestyle, what kind of people will they become?

3. Does my private character agree with my public confession?

4. Can people trust my word?

5. How do I treat people who cannot advance my interests?

6. What compromises have I normalized that could become someone else's example?

7. If my life ended today, what spiritual inheritance would I leave behind?

8. Am I building a name for myself, or am I building something that points people to God?

Then ask the most important question:

“What do I need to change today so that tomorrow's generation will have something honorable to inherit?”

DAY 28 — TEACH SOMEONE INTEGRITY

📖 SCRIPTURAL READINGS

Old Testament: Deuteronomy 6:6–7
New Testament: 2 Timothy 2:2

✨ WORDSPIRATION

Integrity is too valuable to keep to yourself. It must be transferred.

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 reveals that God’s truth was never intended to remain locked inside one generation. His instructions were to be taught diligently to children and woven into everyday life. Likewise, Paul instructed Timothy to entrust what he had learned to faithful people who would be able to teach others. This is the multiplication of character: truth received, truth lived, and truth transferred.

Integrity is more than refusing to lie. It is the wholeness of a life—when your private character agrees with your public confession. It is choosing truth when deception would be easier, keeping your word when breaking it would be convenient, handling money faithfully when no one is watching, admitting a mistake instead of hiding it, and doing what is right even when there is no applause.

This is closely connected to honor. To honor God is to value what He values. To honor people is to treat them truthfully and fairly. To honor yourself is to refuse to compromise the character God is developing in you.

But integrity becomes even more powerful when it becomes reproducible.

Someone is learning from you.

A child may be watching how you speak when you are angry.
A student may be watching whether you give credit to others.
An employee may be watching whether you manipulate figures.
A younger leader may be watching what you do when nobody can hold you accountable.
A friend may be watching whether your “yes” really means yes.

Your life is a curriculum.

You may never stand behind a pulpit, write a book, or lead thousands of people, yet your daily choices are teaching someone what it means to be trustworthy.

Therefore, don't merely tell people, “Be honest.” Show them what honesty looks like.

Don't merely say, “Have integrity.” Demonstrate integrity under pressure.

Don't merely teach people to honor God. Let them see you honor God when obedience costs you something.

The greatest inheritance you can leave may not be money, property, position, or possessions. It may be people whose character was strengthened because they watched your life and learned that truth is worth standing for.

Paul's instruction in 2 Timothy 2:2 gives us a picture of spiritual multiplication: what has been received is entrusted to faithful people who will teach others. That means your responsibility is not only to become a person of integrity but also to raise other people who understand why integrity matters.

Ask yourself today:

Who is becoming like me because they are watching me?

And then ask:

What am I teaching them through my example?

Integrity is not merely a personal virtue. It is a legacy.

🔎 TODAY'S HONOR LESSON

Honor protects integrity because honor refuses to treat truth as something negotiable.

When you honor God, you don't adjust your standards according to circumstances.

When you honor people, you don't deceive them for personal advantage.

When you honor your responsibility, you don't need constant supervision to do what is right.

When you honor your word, your promises become trustworthy.

A person of integrity can be trusted because their character does not change simply because the audience changes.

Character is revealed when doing the right thing costs something.

Today, identify one person you can intentionally mentor in honesty, responsibility, truthfulness, and faithfulness. Don't only give them instructions. Give them an example.

🌱 PRACTICAL APPLICATION

1. Choose someone to influence intentionally.
   A child, student, colleague, employee, friend, or emerging leader may need your example.

2. Teach through real situations.
   Explain why you tell the truth, return what does not belong to you, acknowledge mistakes, and keep your commitments.

3. Let people see your corrections.
   When you make a mistake, don't hide it. Own it, apologize where necessary, and make it right.

4. Transfer convictions, not merely information.
   Help others understand not only what integrity requires but why it matters before God.

5. Multiply what you have learned.
   Ask yourself, “Who can I help become a person others can trust?”

🌍 KINGDOM ADVANCEMENT PRAYER

Nigeria:
Father, raise a generation of honest, courageous, disciplined, and honorable young Nigerians. Let integrity become stronger than the pressure to compromise. Give young people the wisdom to reject violence, criminality, corruption, exploitation, and hopelessness. Place godly mentors and examples around them, and let homes, schools, churches, workplaces, and communities become environments where truth and righteousness are celebrated.

Raise leaders who cannot be bought, manipulated, or intimidated into abandoning what is right. Let Nigeria be strengthened by a generation whose character can sustain the influence and opportunities You place in their hands.

The Nations:
We pray for Rwanda, the Philippines, Italy, Canada, and Colombia. Raise a new generation of godly leaders in every sphere of society. Establish truth, justice, wisdom, and integrity in families, institutions, businesses, governments, and communities. Let those who carry influence understand that leadership is not merely about position but about stewardship.

May those who have learned righteousness faithfully transfer it to others, creating a multiplying legacy of honorable leadership across the nations.

A TRIBUTE TO A FATHER WHO GALVANIZED MY SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING (FAITH) AT 72

Happy 72nd Birthday, Bishop David Oyedepo

Today, I celebrate more than the birthday of a great servant of God. I celebrate a father, teacher, trailblazer and vessel whose ministry helped awaken my understanding of faith and gave expression to dimensions of God’s Word that have continued to shape my spiritual journey.

There are voices we hear and forget. There are sermons that inspire us for a moment. But occasionally, God allows a voice to enter our lives so deeply that its echoes remain with us across decades. Sir, your voice has been one of those voices in my life.

I remember hearing you preach at the Lekki ’98 Holy Ghost Festival of the RCCG, and the effect of your voice that night, mingling with the thundering waves of the sea, still lingers in my heart today. There was something beyond the sound of a preacher that night. For me, it was an encounter with a dimension of faith—a conviction that God’s Word is real, potent and capable of producing extraordinary results in the life of anyone who dares to believe it.

Years have passed, but that moment has never completely left me.

Since then, I have followed after your faith. I have listened to your teachings, studied the principles you have taught and read your books. Through them, my understanding of faith, vision, covenant, diligence, divine wisdom and the authority of God’s Word has been greatly enriched. And after observing your journey through the years, I can say with profound respect: your heartbeat for God is second to none.

What inspires me profoundly is not merely what God has placed in your hands, but the convictions upon which you have built your life. You have consistently demonstrated that faith is not passive expectation; it is an active response to the revealed Word of God. You have taught generations to confront impossibilities with revelation, to reject mediocrity, to think, to work, to pray and to believe God for what appears humanly impossible.

You taught us that “there is no mountain anywhere; every man’s ignorance is his own mountain.” That statement carries a challenge that has followed many of us through life: before blaming the mountain, seek light. Before surrendering to circumstances, search the Word. Before accepting impossibility, discover what God has said.

You taught us that “faith does not answer to wishes but to working.” Through your life and ministry, millions have seen an example of conviction accompanied by responsibility—prayer accompanied by action, vision accompanied by diligence, and faith accompanied by obedience.

At 72, your greatest testimony cannot simply be measured by buildings, institutions, crowds, books or visible accomplishments. It is also written in people. It is written in pastors who found courage through your teachings, entrepreneurs who discovered the dignity of productive thinking, young people who dared to dream, families strengthened by biblical principles, and believers across nations whose understanding of faith was transformed.

I am one of those people.

When a man's life causes another person to pursue God more passionately, believe His Word more confidently and approach destiny with greater conviction, that life has become more than a success story—it has become a legacy.

Today, therefore, I celebrate you with gratitude.

I celebrate the years of standing when standing was costly.

I celebrate the discipline behind the public results.

I celebrate the sacrifices that generations benefiting from the fruits may never fully know.

I celebrate your uncompromising confidence in the integrity of Scripture.

And above all, I celebrate your passion for God and for the advancement of His Kingdom.

As you mark 72 years, my prayer is that the Lord who called you, sustained you and caused your voice to reach nations will continue to strengthen you. May your latter years carry even greater spiritual fruitfulness. May your strength be renewed, your joy overflow, and may generations yet unborn encounter God through the seeds you have planted.

May the wisdom accumulated through decades of walking with God become an inheritance for another generation. May sons and daughters across the nations carry the fire of faith, integrity, excellence and Kingdom advancement even farther.

And may the voice that I first heard against the unforgettable backdrop of the thundering waves at Lekki in 1998 continue to echo—not merely through microphones, but through transformed lives across the earth.

Thank you for teaching us to believe.

Thank you for challenging us to think.

DAY 27 — RESTORE BROKEN TRUST

📖 SCRIPTURAL READINGS

Old Testament: Joel 2:25
New Testament: 2 Corinthians 5:18

✨ WORDSPIRATION — HONOUR THAT REBUILDS TRUST

Trust is one of the most precious things that can exist between people. It takes time to build, but it can be damaged in a moment through dishonesty, betrayal, broken promises, manipulation, secrecy or inconsistency.

Yet Scripture reveals something powerful about God: He is a Restorer.

Joel 2:25 declares, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” God does not merely repair what is broken; He is able to redeem what appeared to be wasted.

But restoration does not mean pretending that nothing happened.

Biblical restoration begins with truth.

Where trust has been broken, honour requires us to stop defending ourselves and start examining ourselves. We cannot rebuild what we refuse to acknowledge. A person who has damaged trust must be willing to say, “I was wrong,” without immediately adding an excuse, shifting blame or demanding forgiveness.

That is where integrity begins.

Integrity is choosing what is right when there is no applause, no reward and no one watching. It means becoming the same person privately that we claim to be publicly. When our words and actions agree consistently, credibility begins to return.

🔥 TRUST IS BUILT THROUGH HONOUR

Honour is more than speaking respectfully to someone. Honour is treating people and relationships as valuable before God.

When we honour someone, we respect their dignity, their boundaries, their time, their confidence and their right to make informed decisions.

Therefore, if we have broken someone's trust, we should not pressure them to trust us again.

Forgiveness may be requested; trust must be rebuilt.

We cannot demand that someone forget what happened simply because we have apologized. An apology may open the door to restoration, but consistent character is what walks through that door.

Let your changed behaviour become louder than your explanation.

Keep your word.

Tell the truth.

Keep confidences.

Admit mistakes quickly.

Do what you said you would do.

Refuse to manipulate people into believing you have changed.

Over time, consistency gives credibility a place to grow again.

💎 TRUTH BEFORE IMAGE

One of the greatest enemies of restoration is the desire to protect our image instead of correcting our character.

Sometimes people are more concerned about looking trustworthy than actually becoming trustworthy.

But God is not impressed by appearances.

Truth matters to Him.

Integrity matters to Him.

Character matters to Him.

A person may successfully convince others for a season, but eventually character will reveal itself through patterns.

Therefore, restoration should not begin with the question:

“How can I make them trust me again?”

It should begin with:

“What must change in me so that my life can once again demonstrate truth, honour and integrity?”

That is a deeper work.

🕊️ FORGIVENESS AND BOUNDARIES

If someone has broken your trust, Scripture calls you to pursue forgiveness, but forgiveness does not require foolishness.

You can forgive someone and still establish boundaries.

You can release bitterness without restoring the same level of access.

You can love someone without placing yourself in a position where the same harm can continually occur.

You can believe God for restoration while allowing wisdom to determine the pace and nature of that restoration.

Forgiveness releases the offender to God; wisdom determines the boundaries of relationship.

Even reconciliation requires truth. Where possible, reconciliation should involve repentance, responsibility and demonstrated change—not simply emotional words.

🌱 GOD'S MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:18 that God has given us “the ministry of reconciliation.”

This means that God's people are called to become agents of healing rather than amplifiers of division.

Where there is conflict, we should pursue peace.

Where there is misunderstanding, we should pursue truth.

Where there has been offence, we should pursue forgiveness.

Where trust has been damaged, we should pursue restoration wisely.

And where immediate restoration is not possible, we should still refuse hatred, vengeance and bitterness.

God's heart is not merely to repair relationships between people; He ultimately desires people to be reconciled to Himself.

Therefore, restoration is part of Kingdom culture.

The Kingdom does not celebrate betrayal.

It does not glorify revenge.

It does not reward deception.

It teaches us to walk in truth, honour, humility and integrity.

🔍 QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

1. Have I broken someone's trust through dishonesty, inconsistency or a broken promise?

If so, am I willing to take responsibility without excuses?

2. Am I asking someone to trust me again before I have demonstrated meaningful change?

3. Have I confused forgiveness with the removal of every boundary?

4. Is there someone I need to forgive without necessarily returning to the same level of relationship or access?

5. Do my private actions agree with the person I present publicly?

🙏 PRAYER

Father, thank You because You are the God of restoration.

Search my heart and reveal every place where dishonesty, pride, inconsistency or disobedience has damaged trust. Give me the courage to acknowledge where I have been wrong and the humility to make things right where possible.

Teach me to walk in truth, honour and integrity.

Where I have broken trust, help me not to demand immediate acceptance or restoration. Give me grace to demonstrate genuine change through consistent character and faithful actions.

Where others have broken my trust, deliver me from bitterness, revenge and unforgiveness. Give me wisdom to know when to reconcile, when to wait, and when healthy boundaries are necessary.

Heal relationships that can be restored. Redeem what has been damaged. Give us wisdom to distinguish genuine repentance from empty promises.

Make us people whose words can be trusted, whose commitments can be depended upon and whose character reflects Christ.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

🌍 KINGDOM ADVANCEMENT PRAYER

Nigeria:
Father, restore trust between communities, citizens and institutions. Heal wounds caused by violence, insecurity, injustice, corruption and broken promises. Raise leaders whose words are matched by their actions and whose leadership is governed by truth, justice and integrity.

Restore confidence where institutions have lost credibility. Help Nigerians choose reconciliation over retaliation, truth over deception and honour over self-interest.

The Nations:
We pray for Kenya, Indonesia, Germany, Brazil and New Zealand.

Let reconciliation arise where there is division. Heal relationships between communities, families and institutions. Give leaders wisdom to pursue truth and justice while building bridges of peace.

Where trust has been damaged, release grace for genuine repentance, responsible leadership and meaningful restoration.

🔥 PROPHETIC BLESSING

May the God of restoration heal what has been broken and redeem what has been lost.

May He restore your credibility where you have walked in genuine repentance and integrity.

May your words become trustworthy, your commitments dependable and your character consistent.

May God give you wisdom to know what to restore, what to release and what boundaries to establish.

May bitterness lose its grip on your heart.

May truth guide your decisions.

May honour govern your relationships.

May integrity become the foundation of your influence.

And may your life become evidence that what is broken can be restored when truth, repentance, wisdom and God's grace are allowed to do their work.

And some must be released.

That is why discernment is important.

1. THE JACOB KIND OF PEOPLE — THE MULTIPLIERS

When Jacob entered Laban's house, something changed.

Laban said in Genesis 30:27:

“I have learned by experience that the LORD has blessed me for your sake.”

Jacob was a multiplier.

Whatever you placed in his hands increased.

Give him an assignment and he doesn't merely execute it—he thinks about how to improve it.

Give him a vision and he asks:

“How can we take this to the next level?”

These are the people who use their own resources, ideas, energy and relationships to move the work forward.

They don't need to be pushed every morning.

They carry the assignment as though it were their own.

They are assets.

Impact is not simply being available.

Impact is being valuable.

There are people who are always available but add no value.

There are people who have been around for years but have never produced anything significant.

Do not confuse presence with productivity.

The Jacob kind of people are productive.

But there is something you must understand about productive people:

TAKE CARE OF THEM.

If you continually exploit them, ignore them, or take them for granted, they may eventually leave.

Some people don't leave because they hate the vision.

They leave because they have been continually used without being valued.

Don't use people simply because they are faithful.

Value faithful people.

2. THE JONAH KIND OF PEOPLE — THE DESTABILIZERS

Then there are Jonah-type people.

Jonah 1:4–6 tells us that a great storm arose while Jonah was in the ship.

Everybody was fighting for survival.

And Jonah was sleeping.

That is a dangerous picture.

Sometimes the person causing the greatest problem is not the person shouting.

Sometimes they are quietly sitting in the system while everybody else is wondering:

“What is happening?”

Jonah was in the boat, but the boat was in danger.

There are people whose presence brings unnecessary crisis.

You trust them.

You promote them.

You give them responsibility.

But somehow, things keep going wrong.

People begin leaving.

Confidential conversations begin appearing outside.

Conflicts multiply.

People who previously loved the vision suddenly become uncomfortable.

And you begin asking:

“What is happening to this organization?”

Discernment says:

Find the source of the storm.

Not every crisis is caused by the person you can see shouting.

Sometimes the real problem is quietly sleeping in the boat.

But there is another lesson here:

Do not become so spiritual that you refuse to confront destructive behavior.

If someone refuses correction, continually undermines authority, and makes people believe they cannot be called to order, leadership must respond.

You cannot claim authority while rejecting every form of accountability.

You cannot be under authority while refusing authority.

At the same time, correction should not become hatred.

The goal is not to destroy people.

The goal is to protect the assignment and, wherever possible, restore the person.

3. THE JUDAS KIND OF PEOPLE — PROXIMITY WITHOUT LOYALTY

Judas is another category.

John 13:2 says:

“The devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot... to betray him.”

Judas was not an outsider.

He was close.

He had access.

He walked with Jesus.

He heard the teachings.

He saw the miracles.

He was part of the ministry.

This teaches us something uncomfortable:

Proximity is not the same as loyalty.

Someone can be close to you physically and far from you in heart.

Someone can call you “father” publicly and still carry a different agenda privately.

Someone can have access to information without having the character to carry that information.

Therefore, don't give everybody the same level of access.

ACCESS MUST FOLLOW TRUST.

Not everyone should know everything.

Not everyone should enter every room.

Not everyone should carry every piece of information.

Wisdom knows the difference between being loving and being careless.

4. THE JOSEPH KIND OF PEOPLE — THE TRUSTWORTHY STEWARDS

Then there are the Josephs.

Joseph was trusted with access.

He entered Potiphar's house.

He was entrusted with responsibility.

He handled things that did not belong to him.

He could have abused his access, but he remained faithful.

That is the kind of person every leader needs.

You need Josephs in your church.

Josephs in your departments.

Josephs in your business.

Josephs among your staff.

Josephs around your family.

People who can see your humanity and still honor your calling.

People who can see your weakness without exploiting it.

People who can know what is happening in your life and still protect your dignity.

EVERY LEADER NEEDS SOMEONE THEY CAN BE HUMAN WITH.

Jesus Himself demonstrated this.

When He entered a deeply sorrowful moment, He took Peter, James and John with Him.

The Son of God experienced sorrow.

He allowed trusted people to see Him in vulnerability.

This raises a serious question:

Who can you open up to?

When you have not paid your rent...

When there is no food in the house...

When ministry is difficult...

When your family is going through something...

When you are tired...

When you are discouraged...

Who can you call?

You need people with human hearts.

People who don't only celebrate your public victories but can stand with you during private battles.

I pray that God will bring Josephs into your life.

People who will stand with you.

People who will not expose you.

People who will not use your weakness against you.

People who will not abandon you because you are going through a difficult season.

5. FATHERHOOD IS TESTED IN DIFFICULT SEASONS

A father is not only a father when the son is successful.

Fatherhood is tested when the son is struggling.

If your son is going through a difficult season, that is not necessarily the time to turn your back on him.

If he has made a mistake, correct him.

If he is wrong, confront him.

But don't confuse correction with rejection.

The ministry God gave us is called the ministry of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:18 speaks of God giving us the ministry of reconciliation.

Sometimes people don't need another person to tell them how bad they are.

They already know.

They need someone who will say:

“Come. Let's talk.”

“You made a mistake, but your mistake is not the end of your story.”

“Let's work through this.”

“Let's restore what can be restored.”

You don't win people by condemning them.

You win people by showing them truth, love, accountability and the possibility of transformation.

6. BE CAREFUL WHAT INFORMATION YOU CARRY

Not everything you know needs to be repeated.

Someone tells you:

“He fought with his wife.”

“He was sleeping.”

“He did this.”

“He said that.”

And you carry the information from one person to another.

But ask yourself:

What does this information produce?

Does it increase your spiritual life?

Does it make you wiser?

Does it help you pray?

Does it help you restore someone?

Does it help the assignment?

Or are you simply carrying information that was never yours to carry?

Not every secret needs a messenger.

Not every conversation needs an audience.

Not every observation needs to become a report.

DISCERNMENT IS KNOWING WHAT TO SAY, WHAT NOT TO SAY, AND WHO TO SAY IT TO.

7. BE CAREFUL WHAT INFLUENCES YOU

There is a powerful lesson in the life of Peter.

Peter could say:

“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus acknowledged that revelation.

Yet shortly afterward, Peter resisted Jesus' announcement about His suffering, and Jesus rebuked the influence behind his words.

The lesson is not that Peter suddenly became an evil person.

The lesson is that a good person can say the wrong thing under the wrong influence.

Therefore, pray:

“Father, may Satan not use me.”

Your mouth must not become a weapon against the very thing God is building.

Your emotions must not become a doorway through which destructive influences operate.

Your frustration must not become rebellion.

Your access must not become betrayal.

Your information must not become gossip.

Your influence must not become destruction.

8. INFORMATION AND RELATIONSHIPS DETERMINE YOUR NEXT LEVEL

There is a powerful principle:

Who you meet matters.

Who meets you matters.

What you read matters.

What you repeatedly listen to matters.

Your relationships and your information shape you.

If you constantly surround yourself with people who criticize everybody, eventually you may become a critic.

If you constantly surround yourself with people who build, create, pray, learn and solve problems, their influence will begin to shape you.

That is why you must be intentional about your relationships.

You cannot remain the same person while constantly changing the quality of what enters your mind and the quality of people influencing your life.

9. DON'T MAKE A TRIBE OUT OF AN INDIVIDUAL

Never take the weakness of one person and make it the identity of an entire people.

One person's arrogance does not define a tribe.

One person's failure does not define an organization.

One pastor's mistake does not define every pastor.

One person's behavior is not a license to stereotype millions of people.

Arrogance is not a tribe. It is a character issue.

Character must be dealt with at the level of the individual.

10. KNOW WHEN TO RESTORE AND WHEN TO RELEASE

This is where wisdom becomes important.

Not everyone who makes a mistake should be discarded.

Some people need correction.

Some need mentoring.

Some need restoration.

Some need another opportunity.

But persistent rebellion is different.

Persistent betrayal is different.

Persistent destruction is different.

There comes a time when someone may choose to leave.

And when they choose to leave, don't allow their departure to destroy the assignment.

People come and people go.

But God's work must continue.

The answer is not hatred.

The answer is not revenge.

The answer is not bitterness.

The answer is:

Keep building.

CONCLUSION: ASK GOD FOR THE RIGHT PEOPLE

Lord, give us Jacobs—

people who multiply what You put in their hands.

Give us Josephs—

people who can be trusted with access, responsibility and influence.

Give us people with human hearts—

people who can see our humanity without despising our calling.

Give us people who will correct us when we are wrong and stand with us when we are weak.

And give us discernment concerning Jonahs and Judases—

not so that we can hate people,

but so that we can protect the assignment, maintain healthy boundaries, and pursue restoration wherever possible.

May we ourselves become the kind of people we are praying to receive.

May we become multipliers.

May we become trustworthy.

May we become faithful.

May we become people who carry information responsibly.

May we become people who restore rather than destroy.

May our presence bring peace rather than storms.

May our access never become betrayal.

May our influence never become destruction.

And when God gives us people, may we have the wisdom to recognize who they are, what they carry, and how they should be handled.

Honor is not merely what we say with our lips; it is revealed by what we do with what has been entrusted to us. Our finances are one of the clearest places where our character becomes visible.

Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.” This means that our relationship with God should influence not only our worship, but also our financial decisions.

Money itself is not evil. Scripture warns us about the love of money because money can become a rival master when our desire for wealth becomes greater than our desire to please God. When money controls our decisions, we may begin to justify what integrity forbids—dishonesty, manipulation, greed, exploitation, corruption or compromise.

Honor asks a deeper question than, “How much can I make?” It asks, “Can God trust me with what I make?”

Financial honor means earning honestly, conducting business truthfully, paying what we owe, keeping our promises, refusing dishonest gain, treating people fairly and handling resources with wisdom. It means we do not allow financial pressure to become an excuse for moral compromise.

There may be opportunities that increase your income but diminish your character. There may be deals that look profitable but require deception. There may be shortcuts that promise quick results but violate truth.

Do not exchange permanent character for temporary gain.

What we possess is ultimately a stewardship. God expects us to manage resources faithfully, whether we have little or much. A person who cannot be trusted with small resources will struggle to faithfully manage greater ones.

Honor also changes how we view generosity. Giving is not simply losing money; it is recognizing that provision ultimately comes from God. When we give with the right heart, save with wisdom, spend with discipline and work with excellence, we demonstrate that money is a servant—not our master.

Your bank account may measure your resources, but your financial decisions reveal your values.

Therefore:

• Earn without deception.

• Spend without recklessness.

• Save without fear.

• Give without selfishness.

• Borrow with wisdom.

• Pay your obligations faithfully.

• Conduct business with truth.

• Refuse profit that requires compromise.

• Never allow money to purchase your silence, principles or integrity.

Integrity is especially tested when shortcuts appear easier.

It is easy to work well when someone is watching. Honor is revealed when nobody is watching.

Will you still tell the truth when a lie could benefit you?
Will you still do the work properly when cutting corners would save time?
Will you still keep your commitment when there is no immediate reward?
Will you return what does not belong to you?
Will you give an honest account of what you have done?

These are not merely workplace questions. They are questions of character.

Colossians 3:23 instructs us to do whatever we do heartily, as unto the Lord. This changes our perspective. We are not ultimately working merely for a supervisor, customer, institution or salary. Our highest accountability is to God.

This means excellence is not about perfectionism or trying to impress people. Excellence is stewardship. It is the decision to faithfully develop and use what God has entrusted to you.

Do not despise small assignments. Great character is often built through ordinary responsibilities faithfully performed.

Do not wait until your work is recognized before you give your best.

Do not measure the value of your work only by its visibility.

And do not confuse excellence with appearance. Something can look impressive while being built on dishonesty. True excellence must have integrity underneath it.

Honor refuses to separate results from righteousness.

God is interested not only in what we accomplish, but in how we accomplish it.

A dishonest person may get ahead temporarily. A careless person may escape correction for a season. A person who cuts corners may appear successful. But kingdom success is not merely about arriving at a destination; it is about arriving there without sacrificing your character along the way.

Your work is part of your witness.

When you work with diligence, honesty, responsibility and excellence, you demonstrate that your faith has practical expression. You show the world what it looks like to be trustworthy with responsibility.

So today, honor your work.

Honor the opportunity.
Honor the assignment.
Honor your time.
Honor your employer or client.
Honor the people who depend on you.
Honor the gifts God has placed within you.
And above all, honor God through the work of your hands.

You may not control how quickly you are promoted, how others recognize you, or whether people applaud your efforts. But you can control the quality of your character.

This is the picture of restoration.

God does not merely want to remove your pain.

He wants to bring you into a place where your life can once again produce beauty, joy, purpose, and fruitfulness.

COMFORT FOR THOSE WHO MOURN

Isaiah says:

“To console those who mourn in Zion.”

God sees people who mourn.

He sees the widow.

He sees the person grieving a child.

He sees the person grieving a parent.

He sees the person mourning a relationship.

He sees the person mourning a dream that died.

And God says:

Comfort is available.

In the midst of mourning, God can bring His presence.

BEAUTY FOR ASHES

Some areas of life may look like ashes.

The relationship is gone.

The business failed.

The opportunity disappeared.

The dream seems dead.

You look at what remains and think:

“What can possibly come out of this?”

But God says:

“To give them beauty for ashes.”

God specializes in restoration.

He can take what looks ruined and bring something beautiful out of it.

That does not mean pretending the loss never happened.

It means refusing to believe that the loss is the end of your story.

THE OIL OF JOY FOR MOURNING

Isaiah says:

“The oil of joy for mourning.”

There are people who have been mourning for a long time.

You lost a baby.

You experienced a miscarriage.

You lost someone you loved.

You lost a relationship.

You lost an opportunity.

You lost something that mattered deeply to you.

Today, may the Lord comfort you.

May the oil of joy be poured afresh upon your heart.

May your joy return.

THE GARMENT OF PRAISE

Isaiah also says:

“The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”

Heaviness can feel like a garment.

It covers you.

You carry it everywhere.

You wake up with it.

You go to sleep with it.

But God offers another garment:

Praise.

Take off the heaviness.

Put on praise.

Put on hope.

Put on joy.

Put on faith.

This is not pretending that the pain did not happen.

It is declaring that the pain will not control the rest of your life.

FROM WOUNDED TO FRUITFUL

Isaiah says:

“That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

God wants you planted.

God wants you established.

God wants you fruitful.

God wants your life to become a testimony of His grace.

Think again about Mary Magdalene.

She moved from oppression to purpose.

From pain to service.

From bondage to devotion.

From being helped to becoming a witness.

That is restoration.

FORGIVENESS AND FREEDOM

Sometimes emotional healing also requires forgiveness.

Forgiveness does not mean saying that what happened was acceptable.

It does not mean removing healthy boundaries.

It does not mean returning to an unsafe situation.

It means refusing to allow another person's actions to permanently control your heart and future.

God can give you grace to release bitterness while still maintaining wisdom and boundaries.

The blood of Jesus speaks mercy.

It speaks forgiveness.

It speaks restoration.

YOU ARE RAISED TO LIFE

Because of Christ:

You are raised to life.

You are raised to hope.

You are raised to joy.

You are raised to peace.

You are raised to purpose.

Your story is not finished.

Your pain is not your permanent identity.

Your ashes are not the end.

There is still beauty.

There is still purpose.

There is still hope.

There is still joy.

FINAL PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus,

Thank You because You are close to the brokenhearted.

Thank You because You heal deep inner wounds.

Thank You because You give beauty for ashes.

PART 3: YOU ARE HEALED — EMOTIONAL HEALING

Key Scriptures

Psalm 34:18

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

Psalm 147:3

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”

INTRODUCTION

Not every wound is visible.

Some people look healthy but are hurting inside.

They smile.

They work.

They attend church.

They serve.

They interact with people.

But inside, there is pain.

This is why we need to talk about emotional healing.

God does not only care about your physical body.

God cares about your heart.

MARY MAGDALENE

Luke 8:1–3 introduces us to Mary Magdalene.

The Bible tells us that Jesus had cast seven demons out of her.

But notice what happened after her encounter with Jesus.

Mary became an active follower of Christ.

She travelled with Jesus.

She supported His ministry.

She was present at His crucifixion.

She was present at the tomb.

She became one of the witnesses of the resurrection.

Her past did not have the final word.

Jesus changed her story.

EMOTIONAL WOUNDS

People can experience emotional wounds through many circumstances:

• Betrayal
• Rejection
• Grief
• Loss
• Abandonment
• Broken relationships
• Repeated failure
• Childhood trauma
• Physical abuse
• Verbal abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Financial betrayal
• Disappointment

These experiences can affect how people see themselves and relate to others.

A person may begin to experience:

Shame.

"Maybe it was my fault."

Guilt.

"Why did I trust that person?"

Low self-esteem.

"Maybe I'm not good enough."

Fear.

"Who is going to hurt me next?"

Anxiety.

Hopelessness.

Anger.

Sleep difficulties.

Intrusive thoughts.

Some trauma survivors may also experience hypervigilance—being constantly on guard because they feel unsafe.

These symptoms do not automatically mean that someone has a demon. Emotional and psychological difficulties can have many causes, and people may need both spiritual support and appropriate professional care.

But whatever the source of the wound, Jesus cares.

GOD IS CLOSE TO THE BROKENHEARTED

Psalm 34:18 says:

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted.”

Notice that God does not say He is far away from the brokenhearted.

He is close.

When you cry, He is close.

When you don't understand, He is close.

When you cannot find the words to pray, He is close.

When your heart is broken, He is close.

Some people are so emotionally exhausted that they have lost the strength to do the things they once enjoyed.

My prayer is:

May the strength of the Lord come upon you.

May strength return.

May hope return.

May peace return.

May your joy return.

JESUS HEALS THE BROKENHEARTED

Luke 4:18 says:

“He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted.”

This is part of Jesus' mission.

Jesus came to heal.

He came to restore.

He came to set captives free.

He came to proclaim liberty.

Therefore:

Your heart can be healed.

Your trauma can be addressed.

Your grief can be comforted.

Your joy can return.

Your hope can return.

YOUR PAIN IS NOT YOUR IDENTITY

Perhaps you have experienced something terrible.

But what happened to you is not necessarily who you are.

You are not your betrayal.

You are not your rejection.

You are not your failure.

You are not your abuse.

You are not your worst experience.

Your story is bigger than your pain.

Jesus can give you a new chapter.

PRAYER FOR EMOTIONAL HEALING

Father, in the name of Jesus,

Bring healing to every wounded heart.

Bring comfort to those who are grieving.

Bring peace to those who are anxious.

Bring strength to those who are weak.

Bring hope to those who feel hopeless.

Heal the wounds nobody else can see.

Restore joy.

Restore peace.

Restore hope.

Restore healthy relationships.

Give wisdom to those who need professional help.

And let every wounded person know that they are not alone.
