PART 2: YOU ARE HEALED — FAITH AND SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

Key Scripture

Matthew 8:8 — “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”

Introduction

In the Gospels, we encounter a Roman centurion who came to Jesus because his servant was sick.

The centurion understood authority.

He understood that Jesus did not need to physically come to his house.

He simply said:

“Just say the word.”

What faith!

He believed that the Word of Jesus carried authority.

UNDERSTANDING AUTHORITY

The centurion explained that he was a man under authority and also a man with authority.

When he commanded a servant to go, the servant went.

When he commanded another to come, the person came.

His understanding was simple:

If Jesus has authority, Jesus can speak a word and the situation will respond.

This teaches us something powerful.

Sometimes we are looking for complicated solutions when God is saying:

“Trust My Word.”

GOD'S PRINCIPLES ARE FOR EVERYONE

The centurion was a Roman.

He wasn't one of the Jewish religious leaders.

Yet Jesus responded to his faith.

This reminds us that God's grace is not limited by:

• Tribe
• Gender
• Social status
• Nationality
• Economic class
• Background

Anyone who believes can come to God.

DON'T REPLACE REVELATION WITH DRAMA

Sometimes people become so fascinated by dramatic experiences that they neglect the Word.

But our foundation must remain Scripture.

There is nothing wrong with experiencing the power of God.

But we must not become dependent on emotional excitement.

The Word of God must remain our foundation.

2 Timothy 3:16 reminds us that Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

PRAY UNTIL REVELATION COMES

Take your situation to Scripture.

If you are dealing with fear, search the Scriptures concerning fear.

If you are dealing with rejection, study what God says about your identity.

If you are dealing with sickness, study God's promises concerning healing.

If you are dealing with emotional pain, study what Scripture says about God's presence with the brokenhearted.

Don't just read the Word.

Meditate on it.

Let it become established in you.

FAITH RESPONDS TO GOD'S WORD

The centurion did not say:

"Jesus, prove it."

He said:

“Just say the word.”

What has God said?

Can you trust Him even before you see the result?

Can you believe Him while you are still waiting?

Can you continue to pray while the situation has not changed?

That is where faith becomes practical.

DECLARATION

May your faith rise.

May the Word of God become alive in your heart.

May you receive revelation concerning your situation.

May you stop allowing fear to have the final word.

And may you learn to say:

“Lord, just say the word.”
